Vivens from The Netherlands becomes Eress 7th. partner
2015-08-03 Eress organization announces that Vivens from The Netherlands officially becomes Eress 7th. partner.
“We are delighted to announce that from today Vivens from The Netherlands becomes Eress 7th partner. As an energy procurement cooperative, Vivens brings a new set of forces into Eress partnership. Prorail, the Netherlands Railways (NS), Veolia, Arriva, and Connexxion, are some of the organizations involved in Vivens. For Eress it is very rewarding to see that the partnership continues growing and that our daily work brings results on reducing energy consumption on trains across Europe. Eress, with its Erex system, has become a European platform for settling energy onboard. The core of Eress has always been collaboration and we are grateful for working together with some of the best and most efficient organizations in Europe, like the Dutch railways”, affirms Eress Director, Dyre Martin Gulbrandsen.
“As one of the biggest electricity consumers in the Netherlands, the Dutch railways are making a remarkable job reducing energy consumption. As of 2018, all electric trains in the Netherlands will be running on green wind power, producing no CO2 emissions at all, enabling passengers to be truly green as they travel. So, Vivens is a clear example on how to continuously improve energy efficiency, making in parallel the transition to 100% green electricity and we are very pleased to welcome them as our 7th partner”, concludes Gulbrandsen.
Eress is a non-profit organization, jointly owned by its partners, committed to the development, implementation and supply of the Erex system. The Erex IT solution provides a standardized system for managing and billing consumed energy on trains. Erex makes possible to control and accurately bill the energy each train uses. Infrastructure Managers get the sorted energy data from Erex system. With this data, they send accurate bills to each of the train operators running on their national and cross border tracks. For train operators, Erex means that they pay just for what they use, since bills are based on precise energy measurement. Without Erex, bills are based on estimates. Also, accurate energy data is the starting point for other environmental initiatives. With data coming from Erex, it is possible to analyze energy consumption patterns and take measures on how to reduce consumption. Erex can save up to 30 percent of energy consumption.
Eress is a partnership between Banedanmark (Rail Net Denmark), Infrabel (Belgian Railway Infrastructure Manager), Jernbaneverket (Norwegian National Rail Administration), Trafikverket (Swedish Transport Administration), Liikennevirasto (Finnish Transport Agency), SBB CFF FFS (Swiss Federal Railways) and from the 1st. of August 2015 Vivens ( Coöperatief Verenigd Inkoop en Verbruik van Energie van het Nederlandse Spoorwegnet) from the Netherlands.
